Last week, several strategic events materially altered the global risk outlook with direct consequences for security, markets, and regulation. Based on these and other consequential evolving trends, here are the core signals to watch this week:

In the United States, President Trump is escalating pressure on Venezuela, publicly announcing the closure of the country’s airspace under Operation Southern Spear and warning airlines to reroute.

Although the decision clearly lacks international legitimacy and violates Venezuela’s sovereign territorial rights, the president’s foreign policy announcement via social media disrupted regional aviation according to flight tracking data.
