Situation this morning. Global leaders are gathering in New York today for the start of an agenda-packed UN General Assembly High-Level Week. Ahead of the General Debate, Trump is expected to meet New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani at Gracie Mansion in Manhattan. It will be their third meeting since Mamdani’s election, in a sit-down that City Hall says will “focus on issues affecting New York City and New Yorkers.”
Interestingly, the meeting falls on Yom Kippur and comes just days before Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addresses the General Assembly on Thursday, his first appearance there since Mamdani took office. Mamdani campaigned on arresting Netanyahu if he entered the city. Netanyahu is not expected to meet Trump and plans to spend only about a day in New York.
